Bear River Health offers a network of services for all stages of your recovery journey--from withdrawal management, to separate residential centers for men and women, to multiple outpatient offices offering medically assisted treatment. Our staff consists of caring professionals working together to guide you during your recovery journey in a safe and confidential environment located in northern Lower Michigan.

Cook and Kitchen Staff

Dining Services is responsible for the preparation and serving of all meals, as well as managing the food service production and delivery system, including purchase and inventory of food and supplies. Dining Services staff ensure conformance with food quality, nutrition, and productivity standards. 

Overnight Security Officer

The Security Officer provides security services for the treatment center campus, staff and residents. The position is responsible for observing and reporting activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the safety of client property and personnel. The officer will also make periodic tours to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment.

Behavioral Health Technician

The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for the support and mentoring of clients while in our Residential Treatment Facilities. He/she will maintain close communication with Clinical Director, case managers, and therapists. Acts as the central receiver of pertinent clinical data and works closely case managers and therapists in the formulation of treatment planning, responding to crisis within the milieu and planning for the needs of clients and client milieu to ensure efficacy of service delivered.

Clinical Assessment Specialist

This position is part of the clinical front team and is responsible for performing the biopsychosocial assessments for incoming clients. This position requires the ability to act as a backup for treatment plans over the weekend or where the clinical counselor is otherwise unable. In the event there are no assessments or treatment plans, this position requires flexibility to fill in for groups or other clinical responsibilities. Must be able to work every other weekend.

Clinical Case Manager

The in-patient Residential Case Manager (CM) serves as a participating Member of the clinical team and provides services to promote positive behavioral change for detoxing and residential clients. The residential/detox case manager will also work closely with the medical team to assist in providing the needs for the all BRH clients. The CM provides support and encouragement to help clients meet their recovery goals. Case Managers also provide or coordinate all covered services (e.g. case coordination, outreach, crisis intervention, housing, and counseling) to address clients’ individual treatment needs.

Certified Medical Assistant

Bear River Primary Care/Mi Better Health and Wellness is looking for dependable individuals to work with our diverse population at one of our primary care facilities. The Certified Medical Assistant would be responsible for a variety of administrative and clinical tasks under the direction of a provider. We are looking for one candidate available for day shifts, Monday-Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Overnight Detox Nurse (RN or LPN)

Bear River Health is looking for dependable nurses to work with our diverse population at our treatment facility. The night RN would be responsible for completing intakes and discharges, handling all medication inventory, passing medications to residents, relaying client concerns or information to the nurse manager and doctor, medically monitoring the detox unit, and more. Currently we are seeking full time RN's. New graduates welcome. Night/Weekends shifts available. Admissions Coordinator

Our Admissions Team members perform a variety of complex clerical and administrative duties requiring comprehensive knowledge of the software utilized by the team. The admission coordinator exercises independent judgment and action, including making frequent decisions in accordance with delegated responsibilities from assigned supervisor. Primary emphasis is placed upon ensuring that qualified candidates are admitted to BRH and proper documentation required for a complete admission as determined by the admissions team. An employee in this class receives guidance from the supervisor and is expected to exercise considerable tact, discretion, and judgment. The employee may be required to train other clerical personnel. This position requires teamwork and the ability to work well with others. This position requires customer service skills. Performance is evaluated periodically.

Shift is 12 - 8 pm, every other weekend & every other holiday.

Administrative Assistant to Communications Director

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of office. Daily job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Communications Director with day to day activities such as Tracking of receipts, helping with grants, and budgeting.

  • Gathering surveys.

  • Attending team meetings

Payroll Manager

The Payroll Manager duties will include, but are not limited to: managing payroll for at least three companies, and handle all issues associated with such as garnishments and withholdings; handle all insurance issues related to employees; provide information to staff regarding benefit options and coordinate employee benefits with contact point for outside agents; care for all open enrollment meetings & issues. Experience with ADP payroll required.

Administrative Assistant to the Financial Director

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office. A finance assistant provides assistance in maintaining financial records, responsible for updating financial spreadsheets, drafting spreadsheets, reviewing and reconciling bank statements. Selected candidate will be handling sensitive information along with filing and organizing. Daily job duties and required skills include, but are not limited to bookkeeping, working with Microsoft Excel, attention to detail, willingness to learn. 

Clinical Counselor

The Clinical Counselor with work with clients by facilitating workshops, maintaining a small case load, provide individual counseling and family counseling sessions as needed, and attend all staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications: Experience in substance abuse and dual diagnosis residential treatment facility preferred. Must have a CADC or be on a development plan, working under supervision. Completion of the development plan is a condition of maintaining employment in this position. Masters level license or Bachelor's of Social Work preferred.
